pitchodi chethi ki raayi....veedi chethi ki power

Promoting or working for the betterment of a religion is healthy but affecting the sentiments of a different religion is maniacal. Lets not be bashful and link both the hills ( Tirupati and Rudrakonda ), but lets also read below and understand if God had a final say in matters concerning religion....

Tirupathi: Govt. attempted to take over 5 out of 7 Tirumala Hills for Church and Tourism Purposes.Samuel Reddy is alleged to use TTD money for Hockey tournament in his parents name (The Hindu: 7/17/2006, Deccan Chronicle: 3/8/2007).

Ø Demolition: Govt. demolished 1000 pillar Mantapam at Tirumala. Recently 10 temples were demolished for Golf Course. Samuel Reddy Son blew up a temple in Anantpur (Hindu 8/27/2004 Deccan Chronicle:3/8/2007, Jyoti)

Ø Illegal occupation and Land scams: Valuable temple properties, estimated at hundreds of crores, is under encroachment. More than 50 per cent of the `land-grabbers' seem to have strong political connections, while others include those `patronized' by the Endowments Department.

Ø Mass Land Sales: Tens of thousands of acres of endowment lands, meant for sustenance in perpetuity are being sold without approval of the Hindu community and without any justification. Eg., 3000 acres temple land in East Godavari was sold (Deccan Chronicle, 31/4/2006). Sold 9201 acres of rural temple land and decided to sell 7000 acres of urban lands worth 20,000 crores (Eenadu, 3/30/2006, Deccan Chronicle 4/8/2006).

Ø Take Over: On 3/12/2007 State Govt. announced plans to takeover all temples, all 181 mutts and all religious trusts in the state with many crores of assets, first step in looting them (Deccan Chronicle, 3/12/2007).

Ø Bhadrachalam: 884 Acres out of 1289 Acres of Temple land was donated to Christian Missionaries.

Ø Srisailam: Sold 1600 Acres of Temple Land surrounding the temple was to various Christian Organisations including Tribal Gospel.

Ø Vote bank Politics: Govt. allocates 1.1 crores for Mosques, 6.5 crores for Churches and pays for trips to Haj and Bethlehem for minority Vote banks. Compare this with 50% surcharge on bus fare on MahaSivarathri day to discourage poor Hindus visiting temples (Deccan Chronicle: 8/23/2006, 12/18/2006, Eeenadu, 2/16/2007).

TIRUPATHI
The state Govt. in association with Missionaries has particularly targeted the World famous Tirupathi temple. The subversive activities of Missionaries were zeroed at Tirumala temple itself. Adding insult to the injury the JRG Wealth Management, a Christian Organization was employed for Prasadam materials. Padmavathi University Vice Chancellor appointed by Govt. was engaging in conversion activities on campus and is reported to be responsible for suicide of a student who was forced to convert (Andhra Jyothi, 3/30/3007). Blow up of 1000 pillar Mandapam, attempt to take over 5 out of 7 hills are some of the notable atrocities.
SIMACHALAM
SIMACHALAM is the Ancient Temple of Narasimha Swamy. Very Recently the Temple has come under siege by Missionaries, who have illegally occupied over 300 Acres of temple land with the help of Missionary land Mafias and local Congress Leaders. The Devotees are denied access at the foothills by the Missionaries who hurl insults and abuse at Hindu God as demons and try physically to stop them from undertaking the yatra. They lure these Hindus by providing them basic day to day needs. On many occasions the devotees have complained to the local administration, which watches these events but does not enforce the law. In a span of 20 Months, four churches and 3 convent schools have come up in the vicinity at the foothills and acting criminally a small temple of Hanuman Ji has also been demolished in the thick of the night.
BHADRACHALAM

BHADRACHALAM is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Sri Ramachandra and situated on the banks of the sacred river Godavari. Today this temple is also under the siege of Missionaries who have influenced the government to donate 884 Acres out of 1289 Acres of Temple land for their Activities. The Temple which had a passage of 8 entrances has been left with a single narrow passage for the devotees to enter. Govt. is currently planning to buy 900 acres of temple land at rate determined by Govt. for donation (Eenadu, 4/3/2007).
ARASAVALLI
AT ARASAVALLI, which is practically the same as Srikakulam, the headquarters of the northernmost district of Andhra, there is a temple of Lord Surya. Temples dedicated to the worship of Lord Surya are rare in our country. Seventh Day Adventist missionaries have constructed a church right in front of both of its entrances.Because of the missionary arrogance and threat of violence the number of Devotees visiting this ancient temple has declined by 85% in just one year.
SRISAILAM

SRISAILAM is situated in the thick and inaccessible forests of the Nallamalai hills, in the northeastern portion of the Nandikotkur Taluk of Kurnool District. The Endowment department has sold over 1600 Acres of Temple Land surrounding the temple to various Missionary Organizations including the Tribal Gospel.

VIJAYAWADA

On the top of the Mangalagiri hill there is a famous temple called the Panakala Nrusimhaswamy temple, which has been attracting pilgrims for a very long time, and from all parts of the country. This ancient Temple which has the largest Gopuram approximately 14 Floors constructed by King Yudhistra has been under the attack from Missionaries. Due to Poverty, material and monetary incentives offered over 35% of the population are forced and/or lured to convert to Christianity and while the remainder were forced to leave in fear. Hindus can visit the temple only between 10 A.M - 1.P.M because of fear of attack from Christians who are residing in large number at the foothills.

ysr palana lo ap dusthithi

Elements in the Sangh Parivar in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh (AP) claim that Christian missionaries are active in Tirumala, home to the renowned Tirupati temple, which attracts pilgrims from all over India. Tirumala is an officially declared ‘religious town’ and the law prohibits propagation of any religion other than Hinduism there.

By highlighting what they claim are proselytising activities by Christian organisations in Tirumala and the adjoining town of Tirupati, the Hindutva brigade hopes to gain support among the residents of the town, and score political points at the expense of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, who happens to be a Roman Catholic.

The Sangh’s allegations centre on the report submitted by a five-member fact-finding committee headed by retired AP High Court judge Justice Bhikshapathi. The committee was appointed by Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji, pontiff of the Pejawar mutt in Udupi. Members of the committee held so-called public hearings near Tirupati and also spoke to officials of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the affairs of the shrine, as well as the administration in the surrounding area.

The committee’s report is being circulated on the Internet and in the local media by Sangh outfits like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of the bjp. Among other things, the report states that:

• Members of the Christian community distributed religious pamphlets and copies of the Bible to students in Tirupati in May, which lead to a ‘tense situation’.

• In April, a pastor and his companion distributed pamphlets on Christianity in a bus going to Tirupati.

• The law prohibits carrying non-Hindu holy books in Tirumala but the TTD’s ‘vigilance officials’ have been tardy in booking violators.

• Family members of TTD employees practice Christianity and invite pastors to conduct prayers in their homes at Tirumala.

There has been no independent substantiation of the claims made in the report. Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji said that he has decided to give the authorities two months to act on their complaints. “The AP endowments minister agreed to implement our demands. If he doesn’t, we will continue our fight,” he said. In a clear reference to his political agenda, he also said that the issue has infused new enthusiasm in the Sangh cadre at Tirupati. Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji and a coterie of other Hindu religious heads are also accused of creating controversy and using it to gain a greater say in the affairs of the wealthy Tirupati shrine.

Anxious to improve its political fortunes in the southern states, the bjp is clearly banking on the issue. There is a concerted campaign employing the Internet and other media organs to whip up emotions over the so-called Christian conversion agenda in Tirupati.

One example is a pamphlet being circulated widely in Bangalore by an outfit called the Shri Haridaasa Sangha, which owes allegiance to the Pejawar mutt. It makes a number of unsubstantiated allegations against the Andhra Pradesh chief minister, the AP government and the TTD.

The handbill falsely says that the ‘S’ in cm YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s name stands for ‘Samuel’. It also says that the AP government has plans to auction 100 acres of land in the Tirumala hills which surround the Tirupati shrine. However, Tehelka found that the AP government is not authorised to auction any part of the hills — while an area of 27.5 square kilometres is under the TTD’s purview, the rest is a reserve forest, under the Centre’s purview.

But the AP government has given in to pressure from the Sangh Parivar and said that it will bring all the seven hills of Tirumala, spanning about 80,000 acres, under TTD control. The move is fraught with legal complications. “While managing a reserve forest and running after smugglers will add a Rs 20-crore burden on us, the forests will be in real danger because the TTD’s approach is to provide a comfortable stay for pilgrims, not protect forests,” says a worried TTD official, requesting anonymity.

The handbill also says that the AP government has appointed jrg Wealth Management, a Kerala-based firm owned by a Syrian Catholic, to make and distribute the famed Tirupati laddoos. This allegation is also incorrect — the temple only appoints Shrivaishnava Brahmins to make laddoos. jrg Wealth Management, whose promoters happen to be Christians, will advise the TTD on commodity futures for the huge stock of food supplies that the latter purchases.

TTD Executive Officer APVN Sharma says there is no evidence that Christianity is being promoted in the area. According to Sharma, Tirumala does have a sizeable chunk of hawkers, hotel staff, servers and sanitation workers from other faiths. There are also many dalits who have been working for the temple for generations but converted to Christianity many years ago. The TTD says it cannot act against them if they practice their religion within their homes, because, on their records, they are still Hindus. Officials said that some of them do invite pastors to their home. “The committee claimed there were about 40 Christian families living in Tirumala,” says a senior TTD official.

The report named some Christian TTD employees. Garden Superintendent Gopinath Jitta was one of them. “I got to know about their naming me a Christian through a magazine. I questioned them during a press meet if they had any evidence of my being a Christian. They had none,’’ he says. He is considering a defamation suit against the Sangh outfit.

The recent events that took place in Tirumala Tirupathi are disheartening to every Hindu. It is stunning to find that nearly 50 Christian families are settled on Tirumala hill and no less than 20 persons of Christianity are employed in TT devastanam.

These families conducted Christmas prayers on the Tirumala Hill, which goes to prove the complacency of the TTD Board. These Christian elements are audacious enough to distribute Christian pamphlets to devotees going to Tirupathi Temple. What is the Devastanam's vigilance department doing? Such brazen acts on the part of Christians makes one suspect that these people are willy-nilly supported by the TTD Board.

Added to this sad state of affairs is the latest move by the authorities recognizing Tirumala as a township with the temple jurisdiction restricted to 27.5 sq.km. This move it is widely believed that this step is meant to make way for construction of Church(es?) on Tirumala hills. Above events lend evidence to this belief. Otherwise what is the reason to reduce the sacred seven hills area of 243 to 27.5 sq. km? They're drastically reducing the jurisdiction of Devastanams. Reducing the Lord Venkateswara's seven hills to two hills is an affront to religious sentiments of Hindus.

The Vice-Chancellor, Dean and other functionaries of Padmavati University are believing Christians and they are forcing the students to participate in Christian Prayers, taking them to Church in vehicles owned by the University, conducting Christian religious propaganda in SV University Hostels, distributing Christian literature in educational institutions are some of the Christian activities that deeply perturb Hindu community.

The offerings made by devotees in Lord Balaji's Hundi should be used only for Hindu religion, spiritual activities. With that object in view the Hindu Dharma Prachara Samstha was started in the year 1968. But later in the year 1982 the word Hindu was removed from its name changing it to Dharma Prachara Parishat. The motive behind the change in name is to divert the huge funds offered by the devotees to Lord Sri Venkateswara as token of their religious devotion to populist Government schemes.

As a part of that move Rs. 500 crores worth of Hundi money is ought to be diverted in the name of "Irrigation Bonds". Going the way Govt. misutilization of public funds. How the religious funds are going to be spent in any one's guess. Thus to divert the money offered by devotees with specific religious motives to non-religious purpose is clear case of subversion of Hindu religion.

Tirumala is the most sacred place. To convert it into a tourist, recreational center as the Govt. is planning, is the sure way to ultimately make it in to a pleasure resort. This is reprehensible.

If the sacred Tirumala Temple Township is degraded in this fashion, where is the place left for Hinduism? What is the fate of Hindu Society?

Let us all wake up before it is too late. Let us resolve to fight out to protect the sanctity and property of sacred TT Kshetram through all possible democratic means. Let us resolve to denote all our mite and might in this regard.

Some Evidence from Telugu News Papers

1. Bus No. AP11 Z 1130 belonging to RTC left Tirumala at 5.30 P.M. on Sunday 9.4.06 for Tirupathi. One Balaraju boarded the bus along with three others. They carried a handbag full of Christian Literature and started distributing the same to the passengers. The passengers objected to the distribution of Christian Pamphlets. Among those who objected was one Mr. Aravind a resident of Parimala Apartments of Kothapet, Hyderabad. (Andhra Jyothi – 10 April, 2006)

2. Christian Propaganda in S.V.University – Students confront the Pastor:

On 11th April 2006 students belonging to TNSF and ABVP students unions obstructed the Christian carrying on propaganda within University campus. The enraged students vehemently opposed pastor Devasahayam and his cohorts. For the past two years a student in mate of room no. 126 of University Hostel E-Block has been conducting Christian gatherings by inviting priests. He is inducing some students to join the meetings. Offended by this unbecoming action, other students demanded the instigator to stop the activity. On Tuesday (12 th) the Christian propagandist came to conduct meeting as usual. Students confronted him and told him to stop evangelism. Hot expelled exchanges took place and the students expelled the intruder. (Andhra Jyothi – 12 April, 2006)

3. Search for Christians in TTD Employees Quarters:

Christians residing in Tirumala are under surveillance. They were asked to leave Tirumala. As per the rules of TTD, Non-Hindus are barred from taking part in the work of Tirumala Temple or other Hindu religious programmes. Non-Hindus cannot be employed in Tirumala Temple establishment. Further as per the rules conduction non-Hindu religious propaganda or programmes in Tirumala will be considered an offence. In view of this, the TTD Officials have started identifying those employees who converted themselves to other religious after taking up job with TTD and such persons are mooted to be moved away from Tirumala. So far the officials identified some 20 non-Hindus staying in TTD employees quarters. (Andhra Bhoomi – 15 April, 2006)

4. Sleepy Vigilance… TTD top brass displeased on Christian propaganda in Tirumala:

Higher Officials of TTD feel that the failure of vigilance department led to the recent spurt in Christian propaganda in Tirumala. It came to their notice that some TTD employees converted to Christianity under various allurements played host to the evangelist activities. As such they are investigating the details of employee converts. Devasthanam Executive Officer Mr. Narayana Sarma and special officer Mr. Dharma Reddy are reviewing the situation that to the Christian activities in Tirumala. ( Andhra Jyothi – 11 April, 2006)

5. Another bunt of Christian propaganda:

A fresh round of Christian propaganda led to thence situation in Tirupathi. Christian evangelist swarmed on different institutions belonging to SV University, Padmavathi women's University and other TTD run colleges on Thursday conducting aggressive propaganda. Reacting to this predatory activity students and general public confronted the evangelists under the leadership of Ramesh Naidu, the ABVP National Executive Committee member. As a result tense situation prevailed at various colleges. Nearly 30 women and 10 males were going round colleges to conduct Christian propaganda right inside college premises. They specially chose EAMCET exam centers to conduct their propaganda. (Eenadu…….. 5 May,2006)

6. Christian propaganda by TTD's AEO – A devotee Complains to EO:

"The TTD is one of the largest religious institution in the world. A top official such a famous institution, like the AEO is resorting to Christian religious propaganda" – complains a Hindu devotee named Ramana hailing from punganur to the EO of TTD Mr. APVN Sarma. Ramana made the complaint while participating in the "Dial you EO" programme conducted by the Television. He complained that Mr. Jayaram, AEO of TTD is propagating Christian religion." A person in high rank in TTD working against TTD pains me" says Ramana. (Vaartha… 6 May, 2006)

7. Ropeway proposal cleared by TTD:

The proposal of constructing a ropeway from Alipiri to Tirumala Hills to facilitate tourist is cleared by the TTD Board. The Board allocated two acres of land to the Tourism Department constructing the Agama advisory committee. Thus way is cleared for the Ropeway. (Eenadu Daily)

8. Govt. covets Balaji's wealth – attempts afoot to divert Rs. 500 crore:

The Government is eying the huge funds of Lord Venkateswara to finance its popularly schemes. It is trying to divert Rs. 500 crore of TTD funds to deposit in Irrigation Bonds. In the past Government passed some statutes to prevent such diversion of TTD funds. The present Government seeks to change those statutes. The Government proposes to change the name of "Hindu Religious Endowment" to "Religious Endowment" to remove hurdles to its proposed diversion of TTD funds. (Eenadu Daily)

9. Surveillance on non-Hindu religious propaganda on Tirumla surroundings – E.O.:

The EO of TTD Mr. APVN Sarma said that as per rule 196 of TTD Act, no other religious propaganda is allowed within 10.33 Sq miles area of the Kshetram. As per rule 197, those who reside in Tirumala Kshetram and those who work for TTD must be Hindus by religion, he said. (Vaartha… 12 April, 2006)

Note : The total area covered by the seven hills collectively called Tirumala are Seshachala, Vedachala, Garudachala, Anjanachala, Vrushabhachala, Narayanachala, Venkatachala, is about 100 Sq.miles (250sq.kms). whereas the Rural Development Department of Panchayatraj's prohibits non-Hindu religious propaganda only in that area. Why so?
